Alice Wells, 99 of Sioux Center, died Sunday, October 23, 2011 at the Royale Meadows Care Center of Sioux Center. Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 28, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. The Wells family will receive guests following the graveside service at First Reformed Church of Sioux Center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Alzheimer's Association. Alice Henrietta (Wesselink) Wells was born in Sioux Center, Iowa, on January 14, 1912, to Henry and Henrietta Wesselink. She graduated from high school in Sioux Center and received a B.A. degree from Central College in Pella, Iowa, in 1936. On August 16, 1939, she married Jess Knight Wells at the First Reformed Church in Sioux Center, Iowa. To that union two children were born: Knight Wells and Alicia Lipinski. Those who are left to cherish her memory are her children: Reverend Doctor Knight W. (Susan) Wells of Bloomington, Illinois and Alicia A. (Alan) Lipinski of Perrysburg, Ohio. Alice was blessed with five grandchildren: Jess (Jennifer) Wells of Tucker, Georgia; Benjamin (Bridgette) Wells of Bloomington, Illinois; Alissa Wells of Bloomington, Illinois; Samuel Wells of Bloomington, Illinois; Alison (Jacob) Crossen of Maumee, Ohio; and five great-grandchildren, Nathanael, Alexis and Caleb Wells and Sophia and Madeline Wells. She is also survived by one sister, Alma Beyer Lyzen of Hull, Iowa and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Gerrit Wesselink, John Wesselink, Peter Wesselink, Edward Wesselink and Art Wesselink and two sisters, Grayce Meredith and Pearl Bruinsma.
