Pete Schut

Pete Schut, 84, of Sioux Center, IA died Friday, September 16, 2011 at the Sioux Center Community Hospital. A visitation will be held Monday from 4-8PM, with the family present from 6-8PM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. A prayer service for family and friends will be held Tuesday at 10AM at the New Life Reformed Church of Sioux Center. Interment will follow the prayer service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 11AM at the New Life Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Dan Kruse officiating. The Schut family prefers memorials to Royale Meadows Care Center, c/o Sioux Center Community Hospital Foundation. Peter Alvin Schut was born June 19, 1927 to Sam P. and Allie (Schuiteman) Schut on a farm east of Sioux Center, Iowa. He attended country school through eighth grade and graduated from Sioux Center High School. On January 31, 1947 he was united in marriage to Gladys M. Beernink. The couple lived on a farm 2 miles east of Sioux Center. In 1975 they moved to their house in town. He was a member of New Life Reformed Church. The past four years he has lived at Royal Meadows Care Center. Peter had a deep faith and love for the Lord. He loved farming, hunting and golfing. He loved his family and was very active in his grandchildren's lives and cherished his great-grandchildren. Peter is survived by two children: his daughter and son-in-law, Bev and Ken Boeve of Hull and son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Bev Schut of Sioux Center, 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Peter is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Glen and Glenda Schut of Rapid City, South Dakota and a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Glen Kuiper of Ames, and two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Don and June Beernink of Omaha, Nebraska and Vern and Barb Beernink of Sioux Center and many nieces and nephews. Peter Alvin Schut, 84 of Sioux Center, went to be with his Lord on September 16, 2011. He joins in heaven his wife, Gladys and his parents.
