Pat Warntjes

Pat Warntjes, 69, of Boyden, IA died Monday, September 12, 2011 at the Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley, IA. A visitation will be held Thursday from 4-8PM, with the family present from 6-8PM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. A funeral service will be held Friday at 10:30AM at First Reformed Church of Boyden with Rev. Matthew Draffen officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service in Sheridan Township Cemetery of Boyden. The Warntjes Family prefer memorials be directed to the First Reformed Church of Boyden. Patricia Ardeen Warntjes was born March 26, 1942 in Long Beach, California and was the daughter of Herman and Edna (Kleinberg) Van't Hul. Pat was raised in Rock Valley, Iowa and graduated from Western Christian High School in Hull. On a cold January 13, 1961, Pat married Adrian (Butch) Warntjes in Rock Valley. The couple lived their entire married life in the Boyden, Iowa area, and were blessed to be the parents of five sons. Pat and Butch celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in January. Over the years, Pat worked a variety of businesses. Early in her career she worked as a telephone operator in Hull, at Sioux Preme Egg of Sioux Center, Iowa and at Pete's Steak House in Doon, Iowa. For 20 years, Pat worked at the Casey's General Store in Hull including 10 years as the store manager retiring in 2007. In her free time, Pat enjoyed doing various crafts, camping and spending time in her flower garden. She has lovingly made many blankets for her grandchildren. Christmas was always her favorite holiday to spend time with her family. She always created special memories. Pat has been a longtime member of the First Reformed Church of Boyden. She is survived by her husband, Adrian (Butch) of Boyden; sons: Alan (Sheryl) of Boyden, Arnie (Nel) of Boyden, Wendell (Barb) of Alton, Heath (Robbie) of Boyden, Todd (Lisa) of Rock Rapids; 13 grandchildren: Barb and Josh Hoekstra, Julie Warntjes and fiancé Seth Vande Kamp, Kayla and Mark Mulder, Adam Warntjes, Nathan Warntjes, Ashley Warntjes, Amanda Warntjes, Elizabeth Warntjes, Joe Warntjes, Hunter Warntjes, Mitchell Warntjes, Anna Warntjes, Isaac Warntjes; four great-grandchildren: Dalton Hoekstra, Chase Hoekstra, Gage Vande Kamp, Marcus Mulder; brothers: Jerry (Judy) Van't Hul and Duane (Marci) Van't Hul all of Rock Valley; sisters: Audrey Van Maanen of Kersey, CO and Alyce (Bill) Keegan of Scottsdale, AZ. Also left to cherish her memory are the Warntjes family: John and Joyce Kroese of Hull, Wayne and Sue Warntjes of Crandall, TX and Mark and Cindy Warntjes of Boyden as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Edna Van't Hul; parents-in-law, Walt and Esther Warntjes; brother-in-law: Edwin Van Maanen; great grandchildren: Autumn Hoekstra and Talon Vande Kamp.
