Tunis Jansma

Tunis Jansma, 84 of Hull died Monday, August 15, 2011 at the Sanford Health of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4-8PM with the family present from 5-7PM at the Protestant Reformed Church of Hull. A funeral service will be held at Thursday at 10:00AM at the Protestant Reformed Church with Rev. James Laning officiating Interment will follow the service in the Hope Cemetery of Hull. Tunis Jansma was born May 2, 1927 near Lester, IA to William and Alice (Van Dyk) Jansma.He grew up on the farm helping his parents with everyday farm life. He attended country school completing the 6th grade. Tunis married Wilmyna Bleyenberg on August 2, 1949 in Sioux Center, IA. They farmed together nearEllsworth, MNand later continued farming in the Hull and Doon, IA area. The couple retired to Hull, IA in 1990. Recently, Tunis and Wilmyna celebrated 62 years of marriage. He was a member of the Hull Protestant Reformed Church. Tunis served on church consistory and school boards. He thoroughly enjoyed farming, vacationing and camping with his family and many family get-togethers over the years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Wilmyna of Hull; his four children: Diane (Dave) Bonestroo, Marlys (Cliff) Koele all from Hull, Rachel (David) Griess from Loveland, CO, Terry (Dee) Jansma, from Doon; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Jane (Pete) De Boer from Steen, MN; brother, William (Harriet) Jansma fromEllsworth, MN; and a sister-in-law, Bernice (Noralf) Barstad from Luverne, MN. He is also survived by Wilmyna's family, Arta (Elmer) Bonnema from Sioux Center, Bernice (Peter) Rynders from Grand Rapids, MI, Delores (John) Hoksbergen from Hull, and Alvin (Betty) Bleyenberg from Sioux Center as well as his much loved nieces and nephews. Tunis was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Gert and Jim De Boer, brother, Bart Jansma; brother-in-law, John Haverhals and a great granddaughter, Lauren Faith Diekevers.
