Art Riemersma, 74, of Sioux Center, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at the Presbyterian Homes in Arden Hills, MN. A visitation will be held Friday from 4-8PM with family present from 6-8PM at Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. A prayer service for family and friends will be held Saturday at 9:30AM at First Reformed Church of Sioux Center. Interment will follow the prayer service in East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon Iowa. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11AM at First Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Roger Voskuil officiating. Arthur Riemersma was born to Henry and Marie (Ver Mulm) Riemersma on May 23, 1937 near Sheldon, Iowa. He married Gertrude "Jo" Lamfers on May 28, 1958 in the Ashton, IA Presbyterian Church. They lived in Sheldon and Matlock before moving to Sioux Center in 1965. Art worked for AMPI for 37 years. Art was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sioux Center. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and in retirement he spent time playing pool and cards with his friends. Those left to cherish his memories are a daughter, Patricia Riemersma of Minneapolis, MN; son and daughter-in-law, Glenn & Ann Riemersma of Bloomington, MN; two grandchildren: Allison Riemersma and Tyler Riemersma both of Bloomington, MN; brother and sister-in-law, Donald & Glenda Riemersma of Sheldon, IA; two sisters-in-law: Dorothy Riemersma of Sheldon and Marian Riemersma of George, IA as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude "Jo" Riemersma; his parents; three brothers: John "Jack" Riemersma and his wife, Alice, Henry Riemersma Jr., Cornie Riemersma and a sister, Marie Buren and her husband, Herm.
