Herb Zeutenhorst, 79, of Sioux Center, IA died Sunday, October 10, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, IA. A visitation will be held Tuesday from 4-8PM, with the family present from 6-8PM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. A prayer service for family and friends will be held Wednesday at 10AM at First Reformed Church of Sioux Center. Interment will follow the prayer service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11:00AM at First Reformed Church of Sioux Center, with Rev. Roger Voskuil officiating. The Zeutenhorst family prefers memorials be directed to the First Reformed Church Sight & Sound Ministry. Herbert Gerald Zeutenhorst was born on a farm near Maurice, Iowa on July 7, 1931, to Gerrit and Hattie (Draayer) Zeutenhorst. He attended grade school in Sioux Center and later graduated from Maurice High School. Herb was married to Marlee Kluis on September 10, 1952 at the First Reformed Church of Maurice. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from February 1953 - February 1955. After his time in the military, he operated a feed store and grinding business in Maurice. The family moved to Sioux Center in 1965. Herb owned the Skelly Gas business in Sioux Center for several years. He later drove truck, hauling cattle, grain and cement. After retiring he started a small used car business and later worked part-time at Ten Kredit Electric. He enjoyed having coffee in the mornings at MJ's and attending events of his children and grandchildren. His hobbies included collecting small antiques as well as cruising car lots and the internet for a good deal on a vehicle. He was a member of the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center. He is survived by his wife, Marlee of Sioux Center; his five children and their spouses: Gary and Lora Zeutenhorst of Spencer, IA, Brian and Deb Zeutenhorst of Ewing, NJ, Brad and Sherrie Zeutenhorst of Sheldon, IA, Leah and Al Tokheim of Johnston, IA and Jim and Jill Zeutenhorst of Sanborn, IA; 10 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren and a brother, Marlow "Doc" Zeutenhorst. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerrit and Hattie Zeutenhorst; two step-mothers and an infant sister.
