Marion Brommer

March 26, 1926 — July 30, 2010

Marion Brommer, 84 of Sioux Center died Friday, July 30, 2010 at the Royale Meadows Care Center of Sioux Center. Visitation will be held Monday from 4-8PM with the family present from 6-8PM at Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. A prayer service for family and friends will be held Tuesday at 9:30AM at Central Reformed Church of Sioux Center. Interment will follow the prayer service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 10:30AM at Central Reformed Church, with Rev. R. Van Rathbun officiating. In lieu of flowers the Brommer family prefers memorials to CHEARS Home Health and Hospice. Marion Ethel Brommer was born March 26, 1926 to Boyd and Helen Tronnes in George, Iowa. She lived most of her formative years near Sheldon, Iowa and graduated from Sheldon High School. On July 14, 1945, Marion married Lester Brommer at Alamogordo, New Mexico where Lester was stationed at Holloman Air Force Base. After Lester finished his term of service the couple moved back to Sioux Center where they would be a part of the family business, Brommer Truck Line. For many years, Marion could be found working at Holiday Lanes Bowling Alley of Sioux Center. Marion was proud to have been part of the American Legion Auxiliary for 50 year of which she served as the secretary-treasure for 25 years. She was also a longtime member of Central Reformed Church of Sioux Center. In her free time she enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren participate in various sporting events. She also liked to bowl and do crossword puzzles. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Lester Brommer of Sioux Center; six children: Leslie (Joyce Reynolds) Brommer of Sioux Center, Rick (Sharon Dibbet) Brommer of Rapid City, SD, Mary Dell Brommer of Sioux Center, Darcy Helwig of Sioux Center, Mike (Kim Van Zee) Brommer of Norfolk, NE and Shelly (Gary) Sandbulte of Carmel, IA; daughter-in-law, Erin Brommer of Sumas, WA, 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Ken File; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Don and Anne Brommer of Sioux Center, Jim and Penny Brommer of Bend OR; sister-in-law, Thelma Madsen of Okoboji, IA and numerous nieces and nephews. Marion was preceded in death by two sons: Brad and Robbie Brommer; granddaughter, Sarah Sandbulte; her parents, Boyd and Helen Tronnes; sister, Byrla File; brother, Dick Tronnes and brother-in-law, Bud Madsen.
