Marie Wallinga, 89, of Sioux Center, IA died Saturday, January 8, 2011 in Baxter, Minnesota. A prayer service for family and friends will be held Saturday at 12PM at Central Reformed Church of Sioux Center with interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. The Wallinga family will receive friends Saturday from 1PM until a 2pm Memorial service at Central Reformed Church with Rev. R. Van Rathbun officiating. The Wallinga family prefer memorials be directed to: Church World Service, PO box 968, Elkhart, IN 46515 Arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. Marie Wallinga was born on October 17, 1921 in Sibley, Iowa to Howard Scott Leamer and Emma (Just) Leamer. She graduated from Hull High School in 1938 and the University of Iowa in 1942 with a degree in Commerce Education. She married Merrill Henry Wallinga on November 11, 1943, and they were married 62 years prior to his death. They settled in Sioux Center in 1950. Survivors include two daughters and their husbands: Merry Lynn and Jim Roelofs of Baxter, MN and Charlotte and Bill Long of Watkinsville, GA. Grandchildren include Ann (Frank) Kaim, Laura (Kip) Lynk, Mark Roelofs, and William Long as well as four great grandchildren, Eva and Riley Kaim and Kyan and Mya Lynk. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Mildred; brother Dwain, and great grandson, Ty Christopher Lynk.
