Marjorie Rus, 95, of Whittier, California, formerly of Sioux Center, Iowa, died Friday, January 28, 2011 in Whittier, California. Visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 7th, at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center from 11AM to 1PM, with the family present from noon to 1PM. A funeral service will be held Monday, Feb.7th, at 1PM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center with Rev. H. Hofman officiating. Interment will follow in Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley, Iowa. Marjorie Garnavieve Rus was born Nov. 25, 1915, in Genoa, Nebraska to Charles Bernard and Fannie Belle Emery. She was the second of five girls. She was raised in Silver Creek, Nebraska and graduated from Silver Creek High School. She married Roy Wisely on July 19, 1935, in Aurora, Nebraska. She was the mother of her three surviving children - Ronald (Terri) Wisely of Whittier, CA, Jane (John) Jacobs of Surprise, NE and Sharon (Fred) D'Amato of Santa Rosa, CA. In addition to her children she is survived by her 14 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great-grandchildren. She married Marinus Rus Nov. 2, 1959 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They lived in Bellflower, California and spent summers in Iowa. They sold their home in Bellflower in 1979 and bought a home in Sioux Center Iowa. They vacationed in California and Arizona in the winter and Iowa in the summer. They spent 42 years traveling around in a motor-home towing a boat or a pickup. They always picked the best weather to park and stay for a while. She moved to Whittier California in 2002 to live with her son, Ron and his wife, Terri.
