Louise Punt, 90, of Sioux Center died Saturday, March 5, 2011 at the Royale Meadows Care Center of Sioux Center. A visitation will be held Friday from 4-8PM, with the family present from 6-8PM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. A prayer service for family and friends will be held Saturday at 10:15AM at First Reformed Church of Sioux Center. Interment will follow the prayer service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11AM in the Chapel of First Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Roger Voskuil officiating. In lieu of flowers the Punt family prefers memorials be directed to the Words of Hope Ministries. Louise (Lou) Punt died March 5, 2011, at Royale Meadows Care Center. She was born on March 12, 1920. She was the third of six children born to Gerrit and Jennie (Vermeer) Vande Berg. As a girl she walked 5 miles one-way to school and did so until she graduated from high school in 1938. Louise met Harold Punt at Christian Endeavor on Sunday evenings at First Reformed Church, where she remained a member her entire life. They were joined in marriage on March 1, 1940, and enjoyed 65 years farming side-by-side. Louise was a talented lady and could accomplish anything she set her mind to. Family and friends were dear to Louise, and they will remember her for her ability to put a delicious meal, cookies, cakes, and coffee on the table in short order. She also enjoyed cleaning, sewing, gardening, reading and fixing puzzles. She showed her musical ability by playing organ and the guitar she taught herself to play. Louise is survived by her daughter, Ruth Corbin of Sioux Center; son-in-law, John (Julie) Calsbeek of Spirit Lake; six grandchildren: Clark (Jena) Corbin of Minneota, MN, Gina Corbin of Sioux Falls, SD, Amanda (Kevin) Persinger of Eden Prairie, MN, Stacie (John) Tigges of Waukee, IA, Dean (Tina) Calsbeek of Orange City, Lizbeth (Jon) Moss of Alton; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters: Gerry Wynia of Arizona, Gert (Ed) Jansen of Sioux Center; brother, Lowell (Trudy) Vande Berg of Colorado Springs, CO; sisters-in-law; Leona Kots of Escondido, CA and Mavis Punt of Lakeville, MN; brother-in-law, Dennis (Arlene) Punt of Orange City and numerous special nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. In her life, Louise said farewell to her husband, Harold; her parents; daughter, Carol Calsbeek; son-in-law, Fred Corbin; sisters, Priscilla (John) Zeutenhorst, Jeanne (Marty) Punt; sister-in-law, Betty (John) Van Veldhuizen and brothers-in-law, John Wynia, Virgil Kots, Gerrit (Hendrene) Punt, Louise was a woman of great faith who read scripture daily and believed strongly in the power of prayer. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
