Anna Kroon, 97, of Sioux Center, IA died Sunday, March 20, 2011 at the Heritage House in Orange City, IA. A visitation will be held Wednesday from 4-8PM, with the family present from 6-8PM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. A prayer service for family and friends will be held Thursday at 1:15PM at First Reformed Church of Sioux Center. Interment will follow the prayer service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 2PM in the Chapel of First Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Roger Voskuil officiating. The Kroon family prefers memorials be directed to Hope Haven Ministries. Condolences may be sent at www.MFHonline.com. Anna Kroon was born February 15, 1914, in Doon, Iowa. She was the second of 10 children born to Abraham and Jennie (Koele) De Groot. Anna was joined in marriage to Richard H. Kroon on August 24, 1937, at her parent's home. The couple enjoyed 67 years together before Richard's death on June 6, 2004. Anna lived in the Sioux Center area her entire life. She worked for 26 years in the Sioux Center High School cafeteria where she enjoyed one of her greatest pleasures, cooking. Anna was a member of the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center, where she was involved in the Mary Circle, taught Bible School and Catechism for many years. Anna is survived by four of her five children: Henry L. and Marian Kroon of Sioux Center, Veryl and Barb Kroon of Waukee, Iowa, Lyle Kroon of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Phylliss and Dave Vander Wel of Orange City, 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Anna is also survived by three sisters: Lena Fedders of Sioux Center, Gertrude Vis of Rock Valley, Edna Vander Broek of Maurice; sister-in-law, Eleanor De Groot of Orange City; brother, John De Groot of Sanborn; three sisters-in-law: Cornelia Kroon of Sioux Center, Margaret Voortman of Sioux Center, Clarene Kroon of Sioux Center; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Arlone and Wilbur Vos of Sioux Center; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rev. William and Margery Kroon of Belmond, Iowa as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Anna was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Arvin John; daughter-in-law, Kathlyn Kroon; sisters and brothers-in-law: Jacoba and Albert De Weerd, Marie and William De Weerd, brothers and sisters-in-law: Henry and Jean De Groot, Abraham (Bud) and Edna De Groot; brother, Cornelius De Groot; brothers-in-law: Ben Fedders, Edward Vis and Norman Vander Broek; as well as members from the Kroon family: brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Cornelius and Wilhelmina Kroon, Gerrit and Mary Kroon; sister-in-law, Marilyn Kroon; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Gertrude and Peter Punt, Della and Henry Van De Berg, Bernice and Henry Baker.
