Ron Van Der Brink, 56, of Sioux Center, Iowa died Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center. A visitation will be held Tuesday from 4-8PM, with the family present from 6-8PM at Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1:30PM at the Netherlands Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Herman Hofman officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service at Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. The Van Der Brink family prefer memorials be directed to Sioux Center Home Health & Hospice, Netherlands Reformed Christian School or Netherlands Reformed Church Building Fund. Ronald Dean Van Der Brink was born May 24, 1954, to Joe and Arlene Van Der Brink in Orange City, Iowa. He attended Sioux Center Community School and graduated in 1972. On July 19, 1974, Ron was joined in marriage to Esther Van Voorst in Sioux Center. The couple first made their home on a rural Orange City acreage and he was employed as a feed truck driver at Farmers Coop Society in Sioux Center. Later they moved to the Van Der Brink family farm by Sioux Center where they had a dairy and crop farm. As well as farming he enjoyed driving the school bus for the Netherlands Reformed Christian School. Ron was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Congregation in Sioux Center. He served on the board of the Netherlands Reformed Christian School and the Memorial Funeral Home. Ron loved to spend time with his family and friends. He enjoyed the time he spent working in the field and on the dairy farm. He is survived by his wife, Esther of Sioux Center; six children: Ben and Amy Van Der Brink of Rock Valley; Chris and Becky Van Der Brink; Michelle and Russ Huisman both of Sioux Center; Alicia and Henry Wolfswinkel of Hull; Alan Van Der Brink of Rock Valley and Caleb Van Der Brink of Sioux Center; 10 grandchildren; father, Joe Van Der Brink of Maurice; brother and sister-in-law: Dave and Sandy Van Der Brink of Ireton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bev and Cornie Blom of Corsica, SD; Jolene and Bob Wobbema of Sioux Center. Also left to cherish his memory are members of the Van Voorst family: Janet and Willard Post of Doon; Wayne and Arlene Van Voorst of Sioux Center; Sheryl and Norm Vande Berg of Woodstock, MN; Jim and Linda Van Voorst of Kalama, WA; Carl and Jan Van Voorst of Watertown, SD; Marvin and Janice Van Voorst of Ireton; Norma and Steve Van Vliet of Orange City; Ruth and Warren Vander Helm of Sioux Center; Leann and Mike Klootwyk of Orange City; Dave and Lisa Van Voorst of Lynden, WA as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Those who preceded Ron in death are his infant daughter, Leah Mae; mother, Arlene Van Der Brink and father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Alice Van Voorst.
