Paul A. Bruinsma

Paul A. Bruinsma, 63 of Alexandria, Virginia formerly of Sioux Center died Friday, Dec. 25, 2009 at the Inova Mount Vernon Hospital.
A memorial service will be held Thursday April 15 at 11AM at Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center with Rev. Carl Boersma officiating.
A private family interment will be held prior to the memorial service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.
Paul A. Bruinsma was born May 14, 1946, to Sam and Gladys (Boeyink) Bruinsma in Sioux Center, Iowa. He graduated from Sioux Center High School in 1964. While in school he was very active in track, basketball and baseball.
Paul attended Morningside College in Sioux City for one year before signing a contract to play baseball with the New York Yankees farm team. He played with the team for 2 years.
Paul later moved to California and Virginia and worked at construction and steel working jobs. He later moved back to northwest Iowa and worked at Demco Manufacturing in Boyden for a number of years. In 2001, Paul moved back to Virginia.
He is survived by his six brothers: Wayne Bruinsma and his wife Mardy, Sam Bruinsma, Robert Bruinsma and his wife Lorna, Joe Bruinsma and his wife Donna all of Sioux Center, Randy Bruinsma of Worthington, MN, Frank Bruinsma of Fullerton, CA; three sisters: Alda and her husband Bill Severson of Sioux Falls, SD, Nancy De Bondt of Sioux Center, Judy Wilson and her husband Gary of Sioux Falls; as well as several nieces; nephews; uncles; aunts and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Byron, Dave and Stan.
