Willemina Moss

August 22, 1917 — October 13, 2009

Willemina Moss, 92 of Sioux Center died Monday, October 12, 2009 at the Sioux Center Community Hospital. A Memorial Services will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM at Christ Community Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Randy Widbin and Rev. Cory Moss officiating. Interment will be held prior to the memorial service in Hope Cemetery of Hull.


A prayer service will be held Thursday at 9:30AM at Christ Community Church.


Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4-9PM with the family present from 7-9PM at Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

Willemina Frances (De Groot) Moss was born on August 22, 1917 to Dick and Elizabeth (Kleyne) De Groot in Boyden, Iowa. She grew up in the Boyden area and attended School through the eighth grade.


On July 27, 1941, she was joined in marriage to Henry Cornelius Moss in Boyden, Iowa at her parents home. The couple farmed with Minas parents for a year before moving to an acreage near Hull, Iowa to continue farming. They lived there for 55 years. Henry passed away on October 16, 2000. Willemina and her daughter, Evelyn moved to Sioux Center in March 2001.


Mina was a member of the American Reformed Church in Hull for 55 years. She was active in the Reformed Church Womens Guild and the Ladies Aid. After Minas move to Sioux Center, she became a member of Christ Community Church.


Mina was a gifted seamstress, loving wife, mother and homemaker. She was dedicated to the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of her family. She daily lifted up her family to the Lord in prayer. Mina loved to read and study the Word of God. Her deep faith and walk strongly influenced her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her heritage is eternal.


Left to cherish her memories are her children: Sharlyn (Moss) and Marvin Kruid of Rock Valley, Evelyn Moss of Sioux Center, Joyce (Moss) and Marvin Huisman of Maurice, Iowa, Harlan and Marsha (Van Ballegooyen) Moss of Hull and Neleatha (Moss) and Phillip Perry of San Antonio, Texas; thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters-in-law: Theresa Post of West Des Moines, Iowa, Harriet Moss of Hull, Esther Wilson of Pocahontas, Iowa and Gertrude De Groot of Boyden, Iowa.


Mina was welcomed to heaven by her husband, Henry; son, Dale Moss; her parents; brother, Thomas De Groot; three brothers-in-law: Arthur Moss, Harold Post, Jim Wilson and her great-granddaughter, Hope Kruid.
