Agnes Harskamp

December 16, 1911 — October 28, 2009

Agnes Harskamp, 97, of Wausau, WI, formerly of Sioux Center died Wednesday October 28, 2009 at her residence.



A funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:00AM at Heritage Reformed Church of Hull with Rev. Michael Fintelman officiating. Interment will follow the service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.


Visitation will be held Friday from 4-8PM with the family present from 6-8PM at Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.


The Harskamp family prefer memorials be directed to Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary, 2965 Leonard Street NE, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49525


Agnes (Sandbulte) Harskamp was born December 16, 1911 to Arend and Dirkje (Holwerda) Sandbulte in Sioux Center. She attended school through the eighth grade.


On January 10, 1934, Agnes married Bert Harskamp in Sioux Center. The couple farmed in the Sioux Center area for a number of years before moving to California. In 1952 they moved back to Iowa.


Agnes was a devoted homemaker and wife. She was employed for five years at the Co-op Produce in Sioux Center.


Agnes enjoyed spending time in her garden and doing needlework projects. She and Bert also found enjoyment in traveling to California and Wisconsin to visit their children and their families.


Agnes was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Congregation in Sioux Center for many years before becoming a member of the Heritage Reformed Church of Hull. For the last 12 years Agnes has lived with Joannes family in Wausau.


Survivors include her five daughters: Lila Van Ravenswaay of Ontario, CA, Donna Beernink of Sioux Center, Ardith (Cornie) Bleeker of Sioux Center, Carla (Jim) De Ruyter of Waukesha, WI, Joanne (Doug) Ellis of Wausau, WI. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild and sister-in-law, Alyda Vande Vegte of Sioux Center as well as numerous nieces and nephews.


Preceded by her husband Bert; her parents; two brothers: Joe and Ben Sandbulte; four sisters: Etta Den Herder, Johanna Feekes, Henrietta Schuiteman, and Cynthia Rensink; granddaughter, Janice Beernink; grandson, Jim Beernink and great-grandson Dylan Nibbelink.
