Mina Klein

MINA KLEIN, 88, of Sioux Center, IA died Monday, September 14, 2009 at Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.



A funeral service will be held Friday, September 18, 2009 at 2PM at the First Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Carl Klompien officiating. Interment will follow the service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.



A visitation will be held Friday from 1PM until service time at First Christian Reformed Church.




Mina Klein was born February 5, 1921 to Louis and Johanna (Lammers) Klein on a farm west of Sioux Center, Iowa. She attended a near by country school through the eighth grade.

As a young woman, Mina assisted her parents with their farming operation. She later moved with her parents into Sioux Center where she worked at the Co-op Produce as an Egg Candler and Grader. Mina then purchased a piece of property 1 miles south of Sioux Center where she built a home and poultry facility. For several years she raised eggs and young chicks. She also was employed at for a short while at Dyna-Tech.

Mina was an accomplished accordion player and enjoyed music. Later in life she learned to play the organ.

Upon her retirement, Mina settled into a home in Sioux Center where she enjoyed working in her garden and growing flowers.

Mina was preceded in death by her parents; 4 year old sister, Della
Klein; brother-in-law, Gerrit Kraayenbrink and nephew, Leroy Klein.

Survivors include her sister, Alla Kraayenbrink and brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Grace Klein all of Sioux Center. Also surviving are a niece and nephews: Shirley Klein of Sioux Center, Wayne and Pam Klein of Sioux Center, Bob and Judy Klein of Cedar Rapids, IA and Nancy Klein (wife of Leroy) of Des Moines, IA.
