Madge De Boer

Madge De Boer, 94, of Sioux Center, IA died Sunday, August 2, 2009, at the Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2PM at the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center, with Rev. Roger Voskuil officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.

Visitation will be held Tuesday prior to the service from 1-2PM at the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center.

Madge Mildred (Popma) De Boer was born July 19, 1915 near Maurice, IA to Abe and Effie (Swarts) Popma. She was raised near Maurice and Sioux Center, where she attended country school.



Madge married Everett Bud De Boer in the Popma family home on April 10, 1941. They were blessed with a son and two daughters, and farmed near Sioux Center.



Madge was a life long member of the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center. For many years she taught Sunday school, assisted with the Nursery program and was active with her Circle. She travel to many locations throughout the world including the Holy Land. For 25 years, she and her sister Sadie spent winters in California together.



She is survived by two daughters: Cheryl De Vos of Sioux City and Debra Rodenburgh of Watauga, TX along with her 7 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister, Sadie Ver Steeg of Orange City; sister and brother-in-law, Muriel and John Palsrok of Rock Rapids; brother, Delbert Dub Popma of Orange City; two sisters-in-law: Harriet Vermeer of Sioux center and Phyllis Mulder of Story City, IA and a host of nieces and nephews.



Madge was preceded in death by her husband, Bud De Boer; her son, Terrance De Boer; her parents; a sister, Blanch Popma; brothers and sisters-in-law: Frank and Rencella Popma; Loyd and Esther Popma; brother-in-law, Lawrence Ver Steeg and sister-in-law, Sebeanne Popma.
