Hermina (Wybenga) Van Muyden was born July 20, 1919, near Sibley, IA to Mike and Jennie (Kiel) Wybenga. Hermina was raised in Orange City, IA where she attended school through the eighth grade. As a young lady she worked as a housekeeper for nearby families.
On May 9, 1941, she married Peter Van Muyden in Orange City. Shortly after their marriage, Hermina and her oldest daughter moved to California where she was employed at an airplane factory during the war. At the conclusion of Peters time in the service the family moved back to Sioux Center. When her family was young, Hermina was a stay-home mother. She later worked in the family business, Van Muyden Grinding, as secretary and bookkeeper.
Hermina is survived by her three children: Janice and Dick Sens of Everly, IA, Carmen and Sandy Van Muyden of Buffalo, MN, Denise and Ronald Stapf of Rosemount, MN, and Arnie and Bev Schelling of Sioux Center who Peter and Hermina have considered as close as children for years. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters: Hilda Roetman, Minnie Dickman, Shirley Rottigni, brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Sadie Wybenga and two sisters-in-law: Iris and Virginia Wybenga all of California.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Peter; her parents; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Ann and Lloyd Redman, Donna and Bert Sykes; three brothers: John, Harvey and Steve Bud Wybenga; three brothers-in-law: Rod Roetman, Jim Dickman, Rino Rottigni.
