MARGARET SCHEFFER, age 92, of Sioux Center, Iowa died Saturday, January 3, 2009 at the Sioux Center Community Hospital.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11:00AM at the New Life Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Pastor Rick Van Ravenswaay officiating. A private family committal service will be held prior to the memorial service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.
Visitation will be held Monday from 4-8PM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

Margaret Scheffer was born June 13, 1916 in Sioux County, Iowa to Richard and Gertie (Vande Wierd) Sneller. She attended country school; attended Westmar College in Le Mars, Iowa for a year where she received her teaching certificate. Margaret then taught country school for a few years before she married Cornelius Scheffer on her twenty-third birthday, June 13, 1939.
Following their marriage, Margaret and Casey first lived at Carmel, Iowa. Throughout the years they lived in various communities in northwest Iowa and Atlantic, Iowa. After her children were in school or out on their own, Margaret worked in retail in womens apparel stores and a jewelry store.
In 1992, Margaret and Casey settled in Sioux Center. In their later years they couple could often be found working puzzles or the morning word find. Casey left Margarets side on August 24, 1993 after fifty-four years of marriage. Margaret looked forward to their reunion everyday since then.
Margaret was a member of New Life Reformed Church in Sioux Center. She was an avid reader, a gift she shared with her fellow residents over the past few years at Royale Meadows Care Center.
Margaret is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lorna and Rob Bruinsma of Sioux Center and son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Jan Scheffer of Omaha, NE along with her six grandchildren: Jason (Marlene) Scheffer, Dana (Tony) Gerten, Ryan Scheffer, Robin (Mark) Heckerson, Michelle Hartman (Chris Gesling), Paulette (Craig) Burrell and seven great-grandchildren. Margaret is also survived by her sister, Priscilla Douma of Sheldon; sister-in-law, Maggie Schimmel of Oregon; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Floss and Clinton Van Roekel of George and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Margaret was preceded in death by a sister, Henrietta Sneller; sister and brother-in-law, Jennie and Tony Hoekstra; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Emma and Eston Brown and brother-in-law, Arie Schimmel.
