Alex Bergan

Alexandra Bergan, age 19, daughter of Marc and Kim (Ver Hoef) Bergan of Baldwin City, Kansas died unexpectedly Friday, December 5, 2008 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in Coffeyville, Kansas.

A funeral service will be held Monday at 10:00AM at Worden United Methodist Church in Baldwin City, KS. Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday at the church.

A prayer service will be held Tuesday at 10AM at the Central Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Van Rathbun officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.

Visitation will be held Tuesday at Central Reformed Church of Sioux Center from 9:15AM to 10AM.

Alexandra Marie Bergan was born September 5, 1989 in Sioux Center, Iowa, the daughter of Marc and Kim (Ver Hoef) Bergan.

Alex attended kindergarten through first grade in Sioux Center, Iowa, second through sixth grade in Madison, South Dakota and seventh through twelfth grade in Baldwin City, Kansas; graduating from Baldwin High School in 2008. She played volleyball all four years at Baldwin High School and was the cheerleading captain for the cheerleading squad during high school. Alex was the editor of the yearbook, played basketball for three years during high school and was a lifeguard at the local pool for two years. Alex was currently attending Coffeyville Community College on a volleyball scholarship and was the starting setter for her team.

Alex will be remembered for her love of her family and friends. Her grandparents meant everything to her and Alex was her mothers sunshine. She loved her sisters and her family and would have done anything for her friends, even if it meant her getting in a bit of trouble. Alex enjoyed playing volleyball, texting her friends on her phone and attending Coffeyville Community College. Alexs family said she had a special glow about her and such a happy spirit that will be remembered by everyone she shared her life with.

Survivors include her parents; Marc and Kim Bergan of Baldwin City, KS; two sisters, Sydney Bergan and Avery Bergan, both of Baldwin City; grandparents, Bruce and Marty Ver Hoef of Sioux Center, IA and Duane and Cheryl Bergan of Decorah, IA; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
