MARIE VREEMAN SHEPHERD, 99, formerly of Sioux Center, IA died Thursday, September 4, 2008 at Hillcrest care center in Hawarden, IA.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 10am at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Duane Tinklenberg officiating. Interment will be held prior to the memorial service in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.
A prayer service will be held Tuesday at 9am at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center.
Visitation will be held Monday from 4pm-8pm, with the family present from 6pm-8pm at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

Marie Vreeman Shepherd was born August 8, 1909 in Kanawha, Iowa, one of thirteen children blessed to Peter and Ann (Rozeboom) Roskamp.
Marie was united in marriage to Dick Vreeman on February 16, 1928 in Edgerton, Minnesota. They settled in Sioux Center. Marie owned and operated the Spot Caf in downtown Sioux Center for many years. She later operated a custom drapery business.
Marie married Dick Shepherd on February 25, 1984 in Lake Worth, Florida. Following their marriage the couple resided in Lake Worth. She was a member of Christian Reformed Churches throughout her life.
Marie is survived by her daughter, Reathal Ann Dolly Van Peursem of Lantana, FL and her son and daughter-in-law, W.D. Bud and Delma Vreeman of Ireton, IA along with her 10 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 10 great, great grandchildren. Marie is also survived by five sisters: Caroline Hannenburg of Edgerton, MN, Florence Vanden Bosch of Edgerton, MN, Esther Trump of Pella, IA, Ramona (Eugene) Westra of Slayton, MN, Joyce (Marvin) Tinklenberg of Edgerton, MN; sister-in-law, Sena Vreeman of Sheldon and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marie was preceded in death by her first husband, Dick Vreeman on May 21, 1974, her second husband, Dick Shepherd on April 24, 1996; three grandchildren; a brother, Clares Roskamp and six sisters: Pearl De Koek Koek, Minnie Walhof, Wilma Van Den Berg, Edna Loenhorst and two in infancy.
