ANTHONY "Tony" VAN RAVENSWAAY, 65, formerly of Sioux Center, IA died Saturday, June 7, 2008 at the Royal C. Johnson Veterans Memorial Hospital in Sioux Falls.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11AM at the New life Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Duane Tinklenberg officiating. Interment will be held prior to the memorial service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.
A prayer service will be held Wednesday 10AM at New Life Reformed Church of Sioux Center.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4pm to 8pm, with the family present from 6pm to 8pm at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

Anthony Van Ravenswaay, Jr. was born October 1, 1942 in Sioux County, Iowa to Anthony & Gerdena (Vande Berg) Van Ravenswaay. He grew up on a farm southwest of Sioux Center and attended school through the 8th grade at Center Township. He was very recently diagnosed with leukemia and passed away on June 7, 2008.
Tony worked in several occupations, beginning when a teenager as a station attendant at the Standard Station in Sioux Center, later as a carpet installer, a farmer and as a truck driver.
He was a member of the Iowa National Guard and was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He has lived for the last number of years at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa.
Tony will be remembered for his love of fun, his mischievous spirit, and mostly for his fine children: Rick and Terese Van Ravenswaay, Jamie and Kim Van Ravenswaay all of Sioux Center, Paul and Kim Van Ravenswaay of Orange City, Jodi and Paul Acres of Sioux City and Dan Van Ravenswaay of Sioux Center along with six grandchildren.
Tony is also survived by five sisters and brothers-in-law: Alice and Junior Dooyema, Gert and Bill Horstman all of Sioux Center, Carol and Gerrit Koedam of Mesa, AZ, Rena and John Van Voorst of Sioux Center, Mary and Ed Zuschlag Denver, CO; one brother and sister-in-law, Rich and Shirley Van Ravenswaay of Montevideo, MN; sister-in-law, Alma Warren of Sioux Center; 29 nieces and nephews and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Ralph and Harold.
