Kay Carlson

KATHERYN KAY CARLSON, 93, of Sioux Center, IA, formerly of Sioux
City, IA, died Sunday, June 15, 2008 at Royale Meadows Care Center in
Sioux Center.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday at Noon at Carmel Reformed Church, with Rev. Daniel Johnson officiating.

Interment will follow at 3:00PM in Graceland Park Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service with family present at the church.



Katheryn Lillian Kay Carlson was born July 28, 1914 to Joe and Marie (Mulder) Fischer in George, Iowa. When she was one year old her family moved to a farm near White, South Dakota. She attended the White, South Dakota school system. Kay often discussed her personal faith and a specific experience she had with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ when she was a teenager.

She lived with her parents until 1939 when she moved to Sioux City, Iowa. She was employed at the T.S. Martin Department Store and later at Yonkers downtown store. She married Joe Carlson in 1953 making their home in the Morningside area of Sioux City. Joe preceded her in death in 1981.

She leaves to morn her passing, sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Lawrence Johnson of Minneapolis, MN; brother and sisters-in-law: John and Marlys of Owatonna, MN; three sisters-in-law: Gloria Fischer of Rock Valley, IA, Ruth and Annamae Fischer both of Tyler, MN along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Mattie Fischer, Rudy and Heikie Fischer; three brothers Henry, Ailt and Dick Fischer and two sisters and brothers-in-law: Lena and Henry Hulsebus and Anna and Matthew Kruse.
