ANDREW BRENNEMAN, 84, of Sioux Center, IA , formerly of Rock Rapids, died Saturday, May 10, 2008, at Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11:00AM at First Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Roger Voskuil officiating. Interment will be held prior to the memorial service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.
A prayer service will be held Tuesday at 10:00AM at First Reformed Church of Sioux Center.
Visitation will be held Monday at First Reformed Church of Sioux Center from 4:00-8:00PM, with the family present from 6:00-8:00PM.
The Brenneman family prefers memorials be directed to Habitat for Humanity.
Andrew Brenneman was born on May 17, 1923, to Herman and Grace (Schuiteman) Ennema. He was raised on the family farm near Sioux Center, Iowa.
On March 22, 1945, Andrew married Joan De Zeeuw. Following their marriage the couple farmed near Sioux Center for eight years before settling on their farm near Rock Rapids, Iowa. Andrew and Joan were members of the First Reformed Church of Rock Rapids where Andrew served several terms as a deacon and elder. In 1985 they retired from farming and made their home in Rock Rapids.
After Joans death on December 15, 1997, Andrew moved back to Sioux Center where he joined his original church home, First Reformed Church of Sioux Center. He became a resident of the Sioux Center Nursing Facility in 2002.
Survivors include his four sons and daughters-in-law: Howard and Arla (Hansen) of Hartford, SD; Arlin and Glenda (Jongerius) of Orange City; Wendell and Debra (Van Oort) of Altus, OK and Carl and Barb (Konz) of Brentwood, TN; his 16 grandchildren: Laurie, Brian and Mark Brenneman; Clark, Patrick and Elizabeth Brenneman; Mike Brenneman, Brenda Anderson and Paul Brenneman; Wade, Bryce, Mandy, Ashley, Kayla, Andrew and Carly Brenneman; and 12 great grandchildren. Andrew is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Herm and Adelene Brenneman, two sisters Wilmina Wynia and Bertha Vermeer, sister and brother-in-law, Anna Mae and Don Broek and sister-in-law, Joan Brenneman all of Sioux Center; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Joan, Andrew was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Arthur Brenneman; sister and brother-in-law, Tracy and John Hoogland and brothers-in-law Martin Wynia and Harvey Vermeer.
