Arlene Margaret Van Der Brink

ARLENE VAN DER BRINK, 73, of rural Maurice, IA died Sunday, May 11, 2008 at the Sioux Center Community Hospital.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11am at the Netherlands Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. P.L. Bazen officiating. Interment will be held prior to the memorial service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.

A prayer service will be held Wednesday morning at 9:45am at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4pm to 8:30pm, with the family present from 6pm to 8:30pm at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

In lieu of flowers the Van Der Brink Family prefers memorials to the Netherlands Reformed Christian School of Rock Valley, IA.



Arlene Margaret Van Der Brink was born on May 25, 1934 in Sioux County, Iowa to Bert and Jane (Koel) Kamerman. Arlene was raised at Sioux Center where she received her education, graduating from Sioux Center High School.

On December 30, 1952, she was united in marriage to Joe Van Der Brink in Sioux Center. Shortly after their marriage the couple began farming near McNally, Iowa for three years, and then settled on to the Kamerman Family farm in 1957. Arlene and Joe lived on this farm south of Sioux Center until 1981 when they moved to a acreage southwest of Sioux Center. Arlene remained active in their farming operation as long as her health allowed. She had been a resident of Valley Manor Nursing Home since September of 2007.

Arlene was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Congregation of Sioux Center.

Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Joe Van Der Brink of rural Maurice; her four children and their spouses: Ron and Esther (Van Voorst) Van Der Brink of Sioux Center, Bev and Cornie Blom of Corsica, SD, Dave and Sandy (Medalen) Van Der Brink of Ireton, Jolene and Robert Wobbema of Ireton; along with her 24 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. Arlene is also survived by sister-in-law, Ann Van Der Brink of Rock Valley; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Case and Alice Van Der Brink of Boyden; brother-in-law, Jim Scholten of Inwood; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Eldora Van Der Brink of Sioux Center; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rich and Greta Van Der Brink of Luverne, MN and her numerous nieces and nephews.

Arlene was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Leah Van Der Brink; her parents; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Coba and John Zevenbergen and Berdena and John Ravenhorst; brother-in-law, Frank Van Der Brink; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Hendrika and Rich Van Hill; sister-in-law, Greta Scholten.
