Henry Kramer, Jr. was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1918, the fourth child to Henry and Loumina (Kiel) Kramer, in Sibley, Iowa. When he was still a child, the family moved to a farm west of Orange City.

On September 13, 1940, he married Wilmina Draayer. They began their married life living in a portion of his parents house. He spent many years farming on his father's farm. Then in 1967, he began working as a custodian at Dordt College. He always enjoyed working with the students and will be remembered as being eager to visit with anyone willing to stop and talk. The Lord blessed their marriage with two sons and a daughter. Henry served on the Orange City Christian School board, as a deacon, as a Sunday school teacher, and as a Friendship Bible Series mentor during his lifetime. He was blessed with a special ability to remember scripture and share his insight with others.
