Lillian (Buyert) Klarenbeek was born in Sioux County, Iowa on March 12, 1925 to Nick and Hermina (Kempers) Buyert. She grew up on the family farm northwest of Sioux Center. She initially attended a near by country school, continuing through the 8th grade at the Sioux Center Christian School.
As a young woman Lillian worked as a housekeeper. She married Dick Klarenbeek on June 5, 1967. They made their home near Alvord, Iowa for two years before settling in Sioux Center. Dick preceded Lillian in death on August 29, 1993. After Dicks death Lillian lived independently in her home and most recently at Crown Pointe in Sioux Center.
Lillian was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Congregation of Sioux Center. Throughout her life time she shared the beautiful crocheted and embroidered items she created. She loved spending time with her nieces and nephews and grandchildren.
Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Bernice Van Veldhuizen and her husband, Cornie of Inwood; daughter and son-in-law, Wilhelmina and Harold Schelling of Sioux Center; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Janice Klarenbeek of Sioux Center; 22 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Lillian is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Gertrude and Jim Intveld of Rock Rapids; brother and sister-in-law, John and Peggy Buyert of Minnetonka, MN; two sisters-in-law: Loie Buyert of Sioux Center and Joan Buyert of Hull along with a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Lillian was preceded in death by a son, Leonard Klarenbeek; a daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Jeffrey Eppinga; grandson, Arlen Klarenbeek; her parents; sister, Lubertha Buyert; sister and brother-in-law, Hermina and Herbert Vander Stoep; an infant sister, Dena Buyert; two brothers: Barney and Art Buyert; nephews: Gene Buyert and David Vander Stoep and a great nephew, David Vander Stoep.
