Gerrett P. Schutt

April 23, 1913 — November 26, 2006

GERRETT SCHUTT, 93, of Sioux Center, Iowa died Sunday, 11/26, at Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center.



Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30am in the Chapel of First Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Arnold Punt officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.



Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2pm to 8pm with the family present from 7pm to 8pm at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

Gerrett Peter Schutt was born on March 23, 1913 to Dick and Grada (Nyman) Schutt in Sioux Center. He attended and graduated from Sioux Center Community Schools.

He married Margaret Rens on March 6, 1940 in Sioux Center. Following their marriage the couple farmed on the east edge of Sioux Center where they raised Shorthorn cattle. For several years Gerrett assisted dairyman and cattleman with their breeding operations, traveling the local area as a A.I. Technician for Sioux Breeders.

Gerrett was a member of First Reformed Church of Sioux Center. He liked to spend his free time fishing and hunting. He and Margaret also enjoyed traveling throughout the country, as well as, a trip to the Holy Land.

Gerrett is survived by his wife of 66 years, Margaret Schutt of Sioux Center; daughter, Sharon Schutt of Spirit Lake, IA; granddaughters: Mindy Orris of San Bernardino, CA and Stacie Prins and her husband, Rick and their children Joshua, Samantha and Cole Gerrett of Syracuse, IN along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Randall Karl Schutt; brother and sister-in-law, Bert and Ileta Schutt; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Margrete and John Smith, Harriet and Dick Mulder, Johanna and Henry Dykstra, Henrietta and Arnold Te Stroete.
