DARRELL D. DOLIESLAGER, 70, of Sioux Center, Iowa died Thursday, 9/7, at St. Lukes Regional Medical Center in Sioux City.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 11, 2006 at 2:00pm at Bethel Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Reverend Stephen Rhoda, officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.
Visitation will be held Sunday, September 10, 2006 at Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center from 2-8pm with the family present from 2-4pm.
Darrell Dean Dolieslager was born August 12, 1936 near Orange City, Iowa to Gerrit and Tena (Houtsma) Dolieslager. Darrell was raised on the family farm near Orange City, attending a near by country school.
On June 5, 1956 he was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Graser in Orange City. Darrell was employed at Silent Sioux Manufacturing in Orange City. They later began farming west of Sioux Center and were blessed with four children. In 1979 Darrell moved his family on to the Dolieslager Family Farm near Orange City where he and Mary Ellen lived until settling into their retirement home in Sioux Center.
Darrell was a member of the Bethel Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center where he participated in various church activities. Darrell was fond of farm life. He also had a great love for animals; over the years he raised dogs and horses along with feeding livestock. In his spare time he could often be found restoring old cars or spending time with family and friends.
Surviving is his wife of 50 years, Mary Ellen Dolieslager of Sioux Center; four children: Rick and Brenda Dolieslager of Sioux Center, Karen and Greg Mouw of Sioux Center, Rod Pete Dolieslager of Hospers, Terry and Shelley Dolieslager of Hull along with 12 grandchildren: Stacey (Scott) Zylstra of Sioux Center, Joel Dolieslager of Orange City, Marie Dolieslager of Sioux Center, Tammy (Adam) Bonnema of Orange City, Tim (Kristi) Gesink of Sioux Center, Jeremy (Jessica) Gesink of Sioux Center, Kacey (Rusty) Flannery of Hinton, Jennifer Dykstra of Iowa City, Ciara Mouw of Spencer, Audra Abdi of St. Cloud, MN, Joshua and Courtney Dolieslager of Hull; his 13 great grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Joan and Herb Bruxvoort and Nancy and Bob Van Zee all of Orange City and numerous nieces and nephews.
Darrell was preceded in death by his grandsons: Jason Allen Dolieslager and John Turpin; his parents; a sister, Nelva Van Ravenswaay and an infant brother, Nelton Dolieslager.
