Katherine Dekker

February 3, 1921 — August 4, 2006

KATHERINE DEKKER, 85, of Sioux Center, Iowa died Friday, 8/4, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital.




A memorial service will be held Monday, 8/7, at 11am in the Chapel of First Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Reverend Roger Voskuil officiating. Interment will be held prior to the memorial service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.



A prayer service will be held Monday at 10:15am in the Chapel of First Reformed Church of Sioux Center.



Visitation will be held Sunday, 8/6, from 2pm to 8pm, with the family present from 2pm to 4pm at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.


Katherine (Niessink) Dekker was born at Sioux Center, Iowa on February 3, 1921 to Peter and Anna (Schaap) Niessink. Katherine was raised and educated in Sioux Center. On November 29, 1950, she was united in marriage to Frank Dekker in Rock Valley, Iowa.



Following their marriage Katherine and Frank farmed in northwest Iowa near Sheldon, Doon and Orange City. They were blessed with two children, and later settled in Sioux Center. Frank preceded Katherine in death on October 2, 1990.



Katherine was an active member of the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center. She created many needlepoint items and quilts over the years for family and friends.



Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Deborah Dekker of Urbandale, IA and daughter and son-in-law, Arliss Dekker and Paul Snider of Madrid, IA along with her three grandchildren: Tiffany Dekker, Aaron Dekker and wife, Michelle and Christian Dekker. Katherine is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Lubbert and Tena Niessink of Rock Rapids, IA and brother-in-law, Marvin Kamrath and his wife, Glenda of Sheldon, IA.



In addition to her husband of 40 years, Katherine was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Ceceilia Kamrath.
