Eunice M. Norman, 85, of Sioux Center died Thursday, August 10, 2006 at the Royale Meadows Care Center of Sioux Center.



Funeral services will be held Monday, 8/14, at 10:30am in the Chapel of First Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Reverend Roger Voskuil officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.



Visitation will be held Sunday, 8/13, from 2pm to 8pm, with the family present from 2pm to 4pm at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

Eunice Mae Norman was born August 7, 1921 in Fulton Illinois, one of seventeen children born to John and Dena (Sikkema) De Weerdt. Eunice was raised in Fulton where she graduated from Fulton Community High School.



On May 24, 1940 she was united in marriage to Elvin Norman in Fulton. They were blessed with two precious daughters and throughout their lives Eunice and Elvin exemplified a Christian marriage. Eunice felt extremely fortunate to be part of such a wonderful, large family and dearly loved by Elvin, her best friend and devoted husband.



For many years she worked in Clinton, Iowa, first at Jane Lamb Hospital as a medical records librarian and later at Medical Associates as a receptionist. As an active member of Second Reformed Church of Fulton, she taught Sunday school and was involved in Christian Endeavor, Willing Workers and Ladies Mission Circle.



After retiring in the early 1980s Eunice and Elvin moved to Sioux Center, Iowa to be near the daughters and their families. Their church membership was transferred to First Reformed Church of Sioux Center. Eunice was known for her love and devotion to her Lord. She felt privileged to play a vital role in her grandchildrens lives, and throughout her lifetime she had a fondness for cardinals and gospel music.



Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 66 years, Elvin Norman at the Sheldon Care Center; two daughters and sons-in-law: Linda and Dick Lineweaver of Arnolds Park and Diane and Vern Den Herder of Sioux Center along with her seven grandchildren: Lance (Shelly) Kooiker of Madrid, IA, Evan (Sherry) Kooiker of Ankeny, IA, Aaron (Michelle) Kooiker of Granger, IA, Matthew (Barbara) Den Herder of Sioux Center, Carissa (David) Lemke of Sioux Center; Cole (Julia) Lineweaver of Spencer and Eric (Tammy) Lineweaver of Milford; 13 great grandchildren: Jadyn, Lane, Ashton, Landon, Elliot Kooiker; Collin, Avery, Ayda Den Herder; Austin, Blake Lineweaver and Leslie, Emily, Betsy Lineweaver. Eunice is also survived by her seven brothers and sisters-in-law: Marvin and Grace De Weerdt of Sun City, AZ; Russell and Beverly De Weerdt of Fulton, IL; Robert and Carol De Weerdt of Mesa, AZ; Leon and Elsie De Weerdt of Mesa, AZ; Gene and Diane De Weerdt of Gilbert, AZ; Larry and Vera De Weerdt of Mesa, AZ ; Jim and Mary De Weerdt of Cedar Rapids, IA; five sisters and brothers-in-law: Betty and Ed Merema, Beverly and Harold Bonneur, Arlene and Robert Dykema, Irma Swanson all of Fulton, IL and Judy Dykstra of Waupun, WI; sisters-in-law, Wilma De Weerdt of Fulton, IL and Margaret Van Der Lught and her husband, John, of Tucson, AZ and many nieces and nephews.



Eunice was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Lois De Weerdt; a brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Rose De Weerdt and two brothers: Vernon, and Arnold De Weerdt.
