Matilda Regnerus, 77, of Sioux Center, Iowa, formerly of Valley Springs, SD, died Friday, June 16, 2006 at her home in Sioux Center.
Funeral Service will be held Monday, June 19, 2006 at 10:30am First Reformed Church of Sioux Center, with Pastor Roger Voskuil officiating.
A Graveside Service will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery of Valley Springs on Monday at 2:00pm.
Visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Home, Sunday, June 18 from 2-8pm with the family present from 2-4pm.
Matilda Regnerus was born at home two miles north of Sioux Center, Iowa on June 16, 1929 to Gradus and Rena Feekes. She was a teacher in a country school near Carmel, Iowa for three years. She married Art Moss on May 23, 1950. They lived in Carmel, Iowa for five years before moving to a farm near Valley Springs, South Dakota. They farmed until 1994 when Art passed away in April.
She moved to Sioux Center, IA in 1996 and married Bert Regnerus on August 2, 1996. Matilda and Bert enjoyed being active in the racing community. Matilda was active in the Reformed Church devoting her life to the Lord by sharing her time and talents with others. Her interests included gardening, quilting, crafts, sewing and reading.
She is survived by six daughters: Rachel Potter of Larchwood, IA; Trudy (John) Deutsch of Valley Springs, SD; Nancy (Jay) Popejoy of Virginia Beach, VA; Donna (Steve) Weiss of Andover, MN; Wanda Heiser of Rock Springs, WY; Bonnie (Charlie) Marquard of Puyallup, WA; three stepsons: Gary (Carol) Regnerus of Orange City, Ed Regnerus of Sioux Center, and Frank (Laura) Regnerus of Sioux Center; sixteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, ten step-grandchildren, eighteen step-great grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Winnie Scholten of Steen, MN; three brothers: Ted Feekes of Peterson, IA; George Feekes of Sioux Center; Gerrit (Marie) Feekes of Avoca, IA; one sister-in-law, Jeanne Feekes of Sheldon; and special friend, Pete Moss of Orange City.
Matilda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Art in 1994 and husband, Bert in 2003 and one brother, Robert Feekes.
