Hermina Harskamp

HERMINA HARSKAMP, 97, of Sioux Center, IA died Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 11, 2006 at Memorial Funeral Home at 10:00am with Reverend Arnold Punt officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center, IA.

Visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Home Friday, March 10, 2006 from 2pm to 8pm with the family being present from 6:30 to 8pm.

The Harskamp family prefers memorials be directed to The Sioux Center Community Hospital Foundation.

Hermina (Top) Harskamp was born July 3, 1908 to John and Hattie (Wiekamp) Top in Bemis, South Dakota. Hermina moved to the Sioux Center area in 1926.

She was joined in marriage to Gerrit Harskamp on September 9, 1930. The couple farmed in the Lebanon, Maurice, and Ireton areas until retiring and moving to Sioux Center. Gerrit passed away December 31, 1994 ending their marriage of 64 years.

When Gerrit and Hermina moved to Sioux Center, Hermina worked in the Sioux Center Community Hospital kitchen for 13 years.

Left to cherish her memories are her children: John and Allie Harskamp of Atwater, California, Gerald and Alice Harskamp of Sioux Center, Harriet and Everett De Bondt, Sioux Center, Robert and Cheryl Harskamp of Frankston, Texas, Kenneth and Darlene Harskamp of Ida Grove, Iowa and Dave and Ila Harskamp of Sioux Center; 18 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren sisters-in-law, Alyda Vande Vegte, Agnes Harskamp; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerrit; sister, Minnie Zwiers; daughters-in-law; Madeline, Phyllis, Gayle; and great grandson, Christopher Rogers.
