Jeanette E. Van Holland

JEANNETTE E. VAN HOLLAND, 87, of Sioux Center died Monday, 2/20, at Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center.

A funeral service will be held Thursday February 23, 2006 at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center at 2:30pm with Reverend Carl Klompien officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center from 2pm to 8pm with the family present from 6:30pm to 8pm.

Jeannette Elizabeth (Mol) Van Holland was born to Johannes and Aartje (Vierhout) Mol in Sioux Center, IA on February 16, 1919. Her family arrived in the Sioux Center area from the Netherlands in 1910 and continued living in Sioux Center. Jeannette attended Sioux Center Schools through the 9th Grade.

On December 10, 1940, Jeannette was joined in marriage to John Johnnie Van Holland in Archer, IA. The young couple farmed near Archer for the first few years. Johnnie then served in the Air Force during WWII and the couple moved from base to base spending time in Alliance, NE and Pratt, KS. After the war they moved to Sioux Center where Jeannette cleaned many homes and offices. Later she and Johnnie operated a laundry and served as a custodian at Central Reformed Church for several years.

Jeannette was very fond of flowers and home decorating. She loved to travel around the country and spend time with her family.

Left to cherish her memory are a sister, Jo (Johanna) Mol of Sioux Center; five nephews and nieces and their families: Art Pluim of Alton; Alice (Pluim) Heidebrink of Orange City, and her children: Dave, Donna, RAH and Bekki; Jean (Pluim) Stenstrom, of Alcester, SD, and her children: Elaine and Gary; Orville and Audrey Pluim of Rock Valley, and their children: Douglas, Curtis, Orlando, and Vaughn; JJ Jake and Toni De Ryke of Iowa City, IA, and their children: Craig and Heidi; special family friend, Mary Ann Wandscheer; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Alyce and Raymond Miedema of Rock Valley; sisters-in-law, Hermina Berghorst of Baltic, SD, Johanna Van Bochove of Yanton, SD; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Moss and Evalena Van Holland of Chino, CA.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Johnnie, in 1980; sisters: Tillie Pluim and Henrietta De Ryke Kutchenwriter; and two brothers, Clarence Mol and Lawrence Mol.
