LEONARD LANE RODENBURGH, 84, of Sioux Center, Iowa died Friday, 9/16, at the Sioux Center Community Nursing Facility.
A memorial service will be held Monday, 9/19, at 11am at the First Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center, with Rev. Mark Verbruggen officiating. Interment will be held prior to the memorial service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center, Iowa.
A prayer service will be held Monday, 9/19, at 10am at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.
Visitation will be held Sunday, 9/18, from 2pm to 8pm, with the family present from 2pm to 4pm at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.
LEONARD LANE RODENBURGH was born January 9, 1921 in NieuwVennep, The Netherlands to Johannes and Phillippyntje (Bokhorst) Rodenburgh. Lane received his education in The Netherlands, and on October 10, 1945 married Mina Baartse in Haarlemeer, The Netherlands.
In 1949, as a young couple with two children and expecting their third, Lane and Mina immigrated to the United States. After their 11 day journey by ship they settled in Sioux Center, Iowa.
Lane was employed by DeStigter Bros. Construction in Sioux Center for 28 years. He and Mina, along with the aid of their children, also served as custodians at the First Christian Reformed Church for 30 years. During this same time, he was instrumental in helping his son develop Rons Lawn & Garden Service which later became Greenworld, Inc.
Lane and Mina were blessed with six children; he enjoyed the constant activity in their home. As a member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center, Lane served terms as a deacon and elder, was a member of the building committee and participated in Mens society. He volunteered at the Sioux Center Christian School and in his spare time Lane was fond of gardening, woodworking and playing Chess.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Mina Rodenburgh of Sioux Center; his six children: Hans Rodenburgh of Waterloo, IA; Ada and Norm Vander Weide of Grand Rapids, MI; Phyllis and Jerry Mulder of Sioux City; Ron and Cherie Rodenburgh of Argyle, TX; Jim and Denise Rodenburgh of Sioux Center; Mike and Angie Rodenburgh of Sioux Center; along with 29 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Lane is also survived by a brother, Simon Rodenburgh of Sioux Center and a sister, Suzanna Bokhorst of The Netherlands.
Lane was preceded in death by his parents,six brothers andone sister.
