Harold Punt

February 8, 1921 — July 12, 2005

HAROLD PUNT, 84, of rural Sioux Center, Iowa died Tuesday, 7/12, at the Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, Iowa.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, 7/16, at 10:30AM in the sanctuary of First Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Arnold Punt officiating. Interment will be held prior to the memorial service in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

A prayer service will be held Saturday at 9:45am at the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center

Visitation will be held Friday, 7/15, from 2pm to 8pm, with the family present from 6:30pm to 8pm at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

Being born in a farmhouse near Maurice, Iowa on February 8, 1921, Harold was a farmer at heart. He was the 3rd of 6 children born to Neal and Pauline (Intveld) Punt.

Harold attended country school through the 8th grade. Harold met Lousie Vande Berg at Christian Endeavor on Sunday evenings at First Reformed Church, where he remained a member his entire life. They were wed on March 1, 1940.

In addition to his devotion to farming, he enjoyed raising Standardbred racing horses and was involved in Trotters Associations. Family, friends and grandchildren were very special to him, and they fondly remember him for his generosity and humor, which remained with him to the very end.

Harold is survived by his wife, Louise of 65 years, daughter, Ruth Corbin of Sioux Center, son-in-law, John (Julie) Calsbeek of Spirit Lake, grandchildren: Clark (Jena) Corbin of Minneota, MN, Gina of Sioux Falls, SD, & Amanda Corbin of Eagan, MN; Stacie (John) Tigges of Lincoln, NE, Dean (Tina) Calsbeek of Orange City, & Lizbeth (Jon) Moss of Alton; and 5 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Leona Kots of Sioux Center and Betty Van Veldhuizen of Sanborn; brother and sister-in-law, Dennis (Arlene) Punt of Orange City; sister-in-law, Mavis Punt of Lakeville, MN, and numerous special nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.

In his life, Harold said farewell to his parents, daughter, Carol Calsbeek, son-in-law, Fred Corbin, brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerrit & Hendrene Punt and Marty & Jeanne Punt, and brothers-in-law, John Van Veldhuizen and Virgil Kots.
