Sadie Wolfswinkel, 93, of Rock Valley, IA diedTuesday July 19, 2005 at the Hegg Memorial Health Center of Rock Valley.
A Memorial Sevice will be held Saturday, July 23, 2005 at the Carmel Reformed Church of Carmel, IA at 10:30 am with Reverend Mark Heijerman officiating.
Internment will be prior to the service at the Carmel Cemetery.
A family prayer service will be held at 9:45 at the Carmel Reformed Church.
Visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center, Friday, July 22, 2005 from 2-8 pm with the family present from 6:30 - 8:00 pm.
Sadie (Te Slaa) Wolfswinkel was born January 28, 1912 to John and Hattie (De Vries) Te Slaa in Hull, Iowa. Sadie spent most of her formative years in the Hull area and attended the Hull school through the eighth grade.
She was joined in marriage to Joe Wolfswinkel on June 30, 1935 in Hull. The young couple moved to a farm in the Carmel, Iowa area where they farmed for forty years. Sadie and Joe then retired from farming and moved into Rock Valley. Joe died on December 27, 1998. After his passing Sadie lived in the Four Seasons Retirement Apartments of Rock Valley. In her last six months of life she lived at the Valley Manor Nursing Facility in Rock Valley.
Sadie was a member of the Carmel Reformed Church and was active in the Carmel Ladies Aid. She enjoyed sewing, growing flowers and vegetables in her garden and will long be known for her great cookie and pie making skills. Sadie deeply loved her family and her church, but above all she loved her Lord.
Sadie is survived by her children and their spouses: Hester and Rodney Bolkema of Sioux Center, Joanne and Harvey Van Otterloo of Rock Valley, Henry and Betty Wolfswinkel of Sioux Center, Shirley and Alvin Veldkamp of Sioux Falls, SD, John and Myrna Wolfswinkel of Sheldon, Jim and Helaine Wolfswinkel of Rock Valley, Lynda and Larry Perryman of Friendswood, TX, and Eugene and Sheryl Wolfswinkel of Pella, IA; 44 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; a sister, Gertrude Zoet of Hull; brother and sister-in-law, Gerben and Therissa Te Slaa of Hull; three sisters-in-law, Johanna Rozeboom of Sioux Center, Dena De Bey of Sioux Center and Jennie Vande Berg of Orange City; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband of 63 years, Sadie is preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Gerrit and Etta Te Slaa; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ben and Jennie Schoep, Ralph and Hattie Vande Berg; three brother-in-laws, Henry Zoet, Ray De Bey, Art Rozeboom; and one brother in infancy, Gerben Te Slaa.
