Henry G. Vander Zwaag

February 3, 1928 — June 14, 2005

HENRY VANDER ZWAAG, 77, of Sioux Center, Iowa died Tuesday, 6/14, at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

Funeral services will be held Friday, 6/17, at 10:30am at the Free Grace Reformed Church of Middleburg with Rev. Stephen Breen officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.

Visitation will be held Thursday, 6/16, from 2pm to 8pm with the family present from 6:30pm to 8pm at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

The Vander Zwaag Family prefers memorials to Free Grace Reformed Church Memorial Fund.

Henry Gene Vander Zwaag was the son of William and Henrietta (Huygens) Vander Zwaag. He was raised on a farm southeast of Middleburg, IA and attended country school and finished eighth grade.

On March 16, 1948 he married Harriet Jans at Hull, IA. The couple made their home at Middleburg on the farm. In 1989 they moved to their home in Sioux Center.

Henk was a member of Free Grace Reformed Church in Middleburg. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends particularly on the family farm, fishing and camping with his son-in-law and grandsons.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Harriet Vander Zwaag of Sioux Center; daughter and son-in-law, Connie & Will Van Voorst of Sioux Center; two grandchildren: Jeremy Van Voorst and his wife Darcie of Rock Rapids, and Wade Van Voorst of Hull; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Glen and Gail Vander Zwaag of Hull, Claude & Betty Vander Zwaag of Orange City; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Cliff Van Schepen of Hull; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Grace & Peter Hibma of Maurice; sisters-in-law: Angeline Tiedeman of Sibley, Winnie Jans, of Carkfield, MN, Arta Jans of Sioux Center, Nellie Jans of Orange City; brother-in-law, Ray Mulder of Artesia, CA and numerous nieces and nephews.

Henk was preceded in death by his parents.
