Herman Eppink

Herman J. Eppink 86, of Danville, Illinois, formerly of Sioux Center, IA, died April 30, 2005 in Danville, IL.


A Graveside service will be held Friday, 5/6, at 10:00am at Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center with Rev. Greg Alderman officiating.

No visitation will be held.

Local arrangements are entrusted to the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

Herman J. Eppink was born February 17, 1919 in Sioux Center, Iowa the son of John W. and Minnie Everdina (Beyer) Eppink.

He was a graduate of Northwestern Junior College of Orange City and Iowa
State College in Ames, Iowa.

After college, he served his country during WWII in Okinawa and the
Philippines.

On June 29, 1943 he married Beth M. Jongewaard in Sioux Center. She preceded him in death on August 3, 2004.

Herman was a Research Engineer for Caterpillar Tractor Company, retiring
after 42 years of dedicated service. He and his wife were members of St.
Marks Lutheran Church in Washington, Illinois.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law: Judy & Dan Sickmeir of Westville, IL and Betty & Bob Wilhelmson of Mahomet, IL; 4 grandchildren: Brad Wilhelmson, Matthew Sickmeir, Jason (Kelly) Sickmeir and Ashley Sickmeir; one sister, Lydia (Eppink) Mol of Zeeland, Michigan.

In addition to his wife Beth, Herman was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Eppink; and four sisters: Wilemina, Henrietta, Ann and Alice Eppink.
