   In Loving memory of

Ana Maria Olmedo Hernández

Who was a Mother, sister, aunt and friend

July 26, 1977-September 1, 2022

In 2018 Ana Maria had a stroke leaving her paralyzed from the right side. For the past few years, she lived in Sioux Falls at Prince of Peace in the Transitional care unit to receive the help and care that she needed. In August 31 2022 she was hospitalized due to another stroke causing internal brain bleeding. Her family was able to be with her in her final moments.

Ana Maria was the oldest sister of six siblings and a mother of one daughter. Ana Maria was Born in Santa Maria, Hidalgo. Determined to have a better life she moved to the United States in the year 1988 and in 2000 went back to Mexico due to health reasons. In 2004 Ana returned to Sioux Center Iowa and lived here for the majority of her life. Throughout her life she always gave her best. Being a single mother, she worked hard in order for her daughter to have a brighter future. Ana Maria was a strong, generous, and independent person; we will all remember her as such.

Mother, you were just a girl so many years ago. You had your loves and had your dreams. You watched people come and go. You watched me make the same mistakes, that you have made before, but that just made you hold me tight and love me even more. I haven’t always thought about the things that you have seen. To me you’ve just been Mother. No thought of who you’ve been. But I remember now in love, your life from start to end. I’m just glad I knew you as mother, and as a friend.
