Andrew Van Bochove, age 88, of Sun City, AZ formerly of Sioux Center, IA died, Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at the Banner Boswell Medical Center in Sun City, AZ.
A visitation will be held from 12:30PM to 2PM on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center.
The funeral service will be held at 2PM on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Adam Vander Stoep officiating. Interment will follow the service in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.
The family prefers memorials be directed to Hope Haven Ministries.
Andrew Van Bochove was born in 1935, to Adrianus and Grace (Vogel) Van Bochove at their home near Sioux Center, Iowa. He attended country school before attending Sioux Center Community High School.
Andy served in the US Army between 1957 and 1958, when he was honorably discharged. In May of 1958, Andy was awarded the Soldier of the Month Award.
On September 21, 1962, Andrew was joined in marriage to Dorothy Vonk in Sioux Center, Iowa. The couple lived on the Van Bochove family homestead where Andy farmed as well as worked as an auctioneer. Andy was one of the founding members of the Sioux Center Saddle Club and the Northwest Iowa Horse Show Association. He spent many weekends in the summer going to horse shows with the children. They enjoyed riding and showing horses and spending time trail riding with friends. He also enjoyed going with the saddle club on vacation to the Black Hills.
In 1986, Andy and Dorothy moved to Phoenix, Arizona where Andy began driving truck delivering freight. When Andy retired the couple moved to Sun City, Arizona. In his free time, Andy enjoyed playing cards, shooting pool and making various woodworking projects. His favorite times were spent with Dorothy, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Van Bochove of Sun City, AZ; son, Alan (Lorie) Van Bochove of Rapid City, SD; daughter, Barbara (Steven) Sheldon of Surprise, AZ; five grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: William (Hermina) Van Bochove, Case (Johanna) Van Bochove; two sisters: Anna (Bert) Teunissen, Irene (Dale) Blumhagen and numerous nieces and nephews.
