Annetta (Riepma) Mulder

May 27, 1927 — July 9, 2019

    Annetta Mulder, age 92 of Sioux Center, Iowa died Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Sioux Center Health.

     A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 12, 2019 at the Faith Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. David Smit and Rev. Bob Pollema officiating. Interment will follow the service in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.

       Visitation with the family present will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

     Annetta Jacoba (Riepma) Mulder was born on May 27, 1927 to John and Sadie (Bouma) Sankey in Crookston, Nebraska. She grew up in Hull, Iowa and attended Western Christian High School.

     On April 5, 1946, Annetta was joined in marriage to Bernard Riepma in Orange City, Iowa. Over the years, the couple lived in Northwest Iowa, California and Southwest Minnesota.   Annetta and Bernard were blessed with 12 children. Bernard died in 1994.  

     Annetta was joined in marriage to Dick B. Mulder on March 21, 1997 in Sioux Center. Dick died in 2008.

     Annetta was a diligent mother and spent most of her younger life raising her children.   She worked for K-Products and Ideal Dry Cleaners in LeMars, Iowa and was a housekeeper for Dordt College for a number of years.

     She attended Faith Christian Reformed Church is Sioux Center and was active in the Crossroads Ministry in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Annetta and Dick reached out to prisoners at the South Dakota State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls through the Cornerstone Prison Church.

     She was an excellent seamstress and cook. She stayed busy with oil painting, sewing doll clothes and making many quilts for the children, grandchildren and special people in her life.

     She is survived by six daughters: Cheryl Prins of Sioux Falls, SD, Ruth and Larry Riemersma of Sioux Center, IA, Elaine and Chuck Zomermaand of Struble, Iowa, Sally and Mike Vander Weide of Spencer, IA, Deb and Todd Ter Haar of Sioux Center, IA, Cindy and Dale Stupke of Las Vegas, NV; four sons: Duane Riepma of Craig, IA, Randy Riepma of Westminster, CO, Mike and Kerri Riepma of Struble, IA, Tony Riepma of Westminster, CO; a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Riepma of Leesburg, FL; 33 grandchildren; 77 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; two sisters: Tracy Mulder of Phoenix, AZ, Evelyn and Alvin Mulder of Edgerton, MN; brothers, Arlen Sankey of Brookings, SD, Les and Lorraine Sankey of Luverne, MN and other extended relation.

     She is preceded in death by her husbands: Bernard Riepma and Dick Mulder; her parents, John and Sadie Sankey; a son, Roger Riepma; daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Martin Moeller; son-in-law, David Slothauber; daughter-in-law, Toni Riepma; brother, Elmer Sankey, sister, Marilyn Zuiderveen; grandson, Phillip Riepma and granddaughter, Tricia Moeller.
