Arlyn Mulder

July 30, 1938 — June 19, 2024

      Arlyn Mulder, age 85 of Sioux Center, Iowa died Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Crown Pointe Care Center in Sioux Center. 

     Funeral services will be 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Centerpoint Church in Sioux Center with Reverend Stephen Breen, officiating.  Burial will follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.

     Visitation with family present will be held from 6-8PM, Friday, June 21 at the Centerpoint Church of Sioux Center.

 

     Arlyn “Moose” Dwayne Mulder was born July 30, 1938, in Sioux Center, IA, the son of Ernest Y. and Ann (Den Hartog) Mulder. He attended Sioux Center Community School and graduated from Sioux Center High School in 1956. After his education he worked as a carpenter for his father, Ernest.

     He was united in marriage on October 16, 1957, to Viola M. Vande Vegte at her parents’ home near Sioux Center, IA. They made their home in Sioux Center and three children were blessed to this union, Sindy, Bruce and Darlo. He drove truck for many years for several trucking companies, such as Sioux Center Creamery, Herm DeVos Trucking, Koedam Trucking, Klein Trucking, Roozenboom Trucking and Bar-K Trucking. Due to his diagnoses of Alzheimer’s Disease, he retired in 2017. 

     On April 22, 2000, Arlyn’s wife, Viola died suddenly. They shared 42 years of marriage. 

     Throughout Arlyn’s life he enjoyed camping with his family, motorcycle trips to Sturgis Motorcycle, coffee with the guys at Sinclair Gas Station and following his grandson Ryan, in NASCAR. In his later years, he became an avid fan of local college women’s basketball

     On January 18, 2021, he entered the Crown Point Care Center, where he remained until this past Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at the age of 85.

     He is survived by three children: Sindy (Lyle) Bonestroo of Boyden, IA, Bruce (Ingrid) Mulder of Hull, IA and Darlo (Laura) Mulder of Sioux Center, IA; eight grandchildren, Jordan (Sarah) Mulder of Sioux Center, IA, Ryan (Cassie) Mulder of Troutman, NC, Lindsay Mulder of Sioux Center, IA, Corey (Angela) Mulder of Woodruff, SC, Ethan (Kelsey) Mulder of George, IA, Brady and Dylan Bonestroo, both of Boyden, IA; seven grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Gene Harlow of Sioux Center, IA; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family.

     Arlyn was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Ann Mulder; wife, Viola M. Mulder; granddaughter, Meagan Bonestroo; brother, Yvon Ronald Mulder; two sisters, Shirley Mulder and Roxie Mulder.
