Brian “Keith” Helwig, age 63 of Sioux Center, IA died at Avera McKennan Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD after a short illness. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, April 23, 2021 at Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center with Father Douglas Klein officiating. Private family inurnment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux. Center. Click the following link to see: Keith Helwig Funeral Service Brian “Keith” Helwig was born January 12, 1958 in Chicago, IL to Eugene and Georgia (Rainey) Helwig. He graduated from Sioux Center High School. Keith’s family moved around quite a bit in his youth. Living in various parts of Chicago, Fayetteville, NC, Wichita, KS and finally settling in Sioux Center as a young adult. He worked for his dad at Dyna Tech which later became Groschopp until early 1993 at which time he went to work for Thooft Construction until 1999 when he started his own company – Ceres Construction. Keith loved working with his hands and helping others. He loved doing any kind of building. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. He enjoyed working on his lawn and beautiful flowers around his house. He loved watching his grandchildren grow – going to their school and sporting events and just spending time with family and friends, making many cherished memories along the way. Keith is survived by his wife, Susan Helwig of Sioux Center; son, Jonathon Helwig and sons, Maxx and Mason; daughter, Krystal Grave and her children, Paige and Maddison; sister, Kimberly (Mike) Rowland and son, Kaine of Greenville, NC; brother, Brandy Helwig and son Brandon of Willow Springs, NC; in-laws, Harlan Prieksat, Ray and Brenda Prieksat, Carl Prieksat, Diane Prieksat, Bob and Jane Prieksat, Doris and Rick Walke, Paul and Brenda Prieksat, Karen and Steve Thorpe, and Mark Prieksat. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Georgia Helwig; brother, Bob Helwig; sister-in-law, Linda Prieksat; and grandparents, Frank and Rose Helwig, “Bull” and Granny Rye and his beloved Aunt “Dolly” Helwig.
