Clara Hoogland

     Clara Hoogland age 94 of Sioux Center, Iowa died Friday, October 14, 2022, at Crown Point Estates Care Center in Sioux Center.

     A funeral service will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center.  The funeral service will be live-streamed on the Bethel Christian Reformed Church youtube: Clara Hoogland Service

     Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.

     Public visitation with family present will be Tuesday, October 18^th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church.

Memorials may be directed to the Bethel Christian Reformed Church Christian Education Fund.

     Clara Hoogland was born on November 23, 1927, in Hull, IA, the daughter of John and Helen (Kooiker) Kroese.  She grew up on a farm near Hull and attended Country school and Hull Christian through the eighth grade.

     On March 30, 1949, Clara was united in marriage to Alfred J. Hoogland in Hull, IA.  After their marriage, they farmed southwest of Sioux Center and in 1962 they moved to a farm east of Sioux Center.   To this union five children were born, Grace, John, Helen, Alvin, and Carl.

     Clara was a member of the Bethel Christian Reformed Church.

     Left to cherish her memory are her five children, Grace (Ben) Van Der Zwaag of Boyden, IA, John A. (Cheryl) Hoogland of Sioux Center, IA, Helen (Duane) Mulder of Sioux Center, IA, Alvin (Verla) Hoogland of Orange City, IA, and Carl (Melva) Hoogland of Orange City, IA; twenty-six grandchildren, sixty-four great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; three siblings, Wilmina Schuiteman of Sioux Center, IA, Julianne Kats of Sheldon, IA, and Joyce De Vries of Hull, IA; nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, John, and Helen Kroese; husband Alfred of 39 years; one sister, Hilda Mouw; and two grandchildren, Christine Ann Hoogland, and Curtis John Hoogland.
