     Clarence Goemaat age 91 of Sioux Center, Iowa died Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at Sioux Center Health in Sioux Center, IA.

Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Friday, August 7th at Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center, IA, with Rev. Jeff Whitt officiating. There will also be one hour visitation prior to the service.

Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 6th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, with the family present at Memorial Funeral Home. Social distancing will be observed.

     Clarence Cornie Goemaat was born on January 13, 1929 to Cornelius and Irene (Van Haaften) Goemaat in Pella, Iowa.  

     On January 21, 1956, Clarence was joined in marriage to Marian (Davis) Goemaat in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Clarence served in the US Army during the Korean War. After his time in the service, Clarence worked for the railroad and he and Marian lived in Iowa, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Idaho before making their final home in Sioux Center, Iowa. Marian died on January 21, 2013.

     Clarence was a member of New Hope Evangelical Free Church in Orange City, Iowa.   Throughout his life, he was involved with the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, various church boards and Christian school boards. He expressed his great love for his family often in various ways and enjoyed family vacations in the mountains.   He had a great interest in trains and railroading. He will be lovingly remembered for his faith and love for his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ.

     He is survived by four children and their spouses: Shirley and Don Gilmore of Broken Arrow, OK, Sharon and Duane Johnson of Omaha, NE, Ralph and Daletha Goemaat of Sioux Center, Lowell and Christina Goemaat of Sioux Center; daughter-in-law, Ruth Ann Goemaat of Queen Creek, AZ; ten grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; two great greatgrandchildren; sister, Marie Breese of Independence, MO.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Marian; son, C. Russell, great granddaughter, Alexis Powell; and siblings, Abe Goemaat, Johanna Hittle, Henry Goemaat and Abbie Goemaat.
