Dennis Visser

     Dennis Visser, age 68 of Sioux Center, IA died December 5, 2021, at Harrison, AR as the result of a motor vehicle accident.

     A funeral service will take place 10:30 AM Thursday, December 9, 2021 at the First Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center with Reverend Kurt Monroe, officiating.  Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.  A livestream link will be available at Watch Services Live - First Christian Reformed Church (firstcrc.com)

     Visitation will take place Wednesday, December 8^th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with the family present at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center.

     Memorials may be directed to Kinsey Elementary in Sioux Center.

     Dennis Gene Visser was born on May 4, 1953, to Leonard and Angie (Slobe) Visser in Sioux Center.  He was raised in Sioux Center and attended Sioux Center Christian School and Hull Western Christian High School. 

     On March 29, 1974, Dennis was united in marriage to Dione Grevengoed at the First Christian Reformed Church in Hull.  Together they lived in Sioux Center and raised one son, Kelly.  For 45 years, Dennis was part owner of Visser Elevator in Sioux Center.  He retired in 2019.  After retirement he worked at Kooima Laser and Sunshine Foods part-time, where he was always remembered by the little kids who enjoyed their conversations. 

     Dennis was a member of First Christian Reformed Church where he served on the building committee in the past.  He enjoyed go-karts and bringing his son all over to the kart races and attending hockey games with his grandkids.  He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and taking trips with the guys, riding snowmobiles, trips with his wife to Branson, and taking trips with Ver Mulder.

     Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 47 years, Dione; son, Kelly (Amy) Visser of Sioux Center, IA; grandchildren, Riley and Jaelyn; brothers, Rog (Nancy) Visser of Sioux Center, IA and Scott Visser of Sioux Center, IA; mother-in-law, Wilma Grevengoed of Hull, IA, siblings-in-law, Galen (Elsie) Grevengoed, Randy Grevengoed, Cheri (Harlow) Bosman, Mike (Connie) Grevengoed, Kristi (Harlan) Leusink; along with many nieces and nephews.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, John Grevengoed; grandson, River Visser (10/25/2021); sister, Donna Longo; and brother, Larry Visser; sister-in-law, Cheryl Grevengoed and nephew, Kris Visser.
