Diane Ruth Van Roekel

Diane Van Roekel, age 76 of Sioux Center, Iowa died Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Sioux Center Health.

Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Friday, April 12, 2024 at Central Reformed Church with pastor Jesse Henkle, officiating.  Burial will follow in Memory Gardens of Sioux Center.

Visitation will take place, Thursday, April 11th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center, Iowa.

Diane Ruth Van Roekel was born September 12, 1947, to Wilbur and Tena (Dykstra) Huisman in Sioux Center, Iowa.  She attended school in Sioux Center and graduated from Sioux Center High School.  

On February 16, 1968, Diane was joined in marriage to Lyle Van Roekel at the Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center. For 56 years, Diane and Lyle ran Bodnar Studio in Sioux Center.   She was a perfectionist and spent hours helping to edit photos and help position people for photos.   She lived by her father’s saying, “Any job worth doing is a job worth doing right.”

She was a longtime member of the Central Reformed Church.  In her free time, she enjoyed bowling and golfing.  Her favorite times were spent with her six grandchildren.

Diane is survived by her husband, Lyle Van Roekel of Sioux Center; three sons: Lee Van Roekel of Sioux Center, Chad and Kathleen Van Roekel of Harrisburg, MO and Mark and Rebecca Van Roekel of Dardenne Prairie, MO; 6 grandchildren; 6 siblings: Deb and Mike Melvin, Jeanie Huisman (Kenny Vos), Mary Bomgaars, Carol and Phil Trazyk, Bob and Ann Huisman and Pat Huisman and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers: Veryl Huisman, David “Wink” Huisman, Jerry Huisman; and one brother-in-law, Norm Bomgaars.
