Edwin Boote was born on August 18, 1933, to John W. and Lydia (Beyer) Boote, the youngest of seven.  He attended country school, Hull High School ‘50 and Northwestern Junior College Class of ’52.  He served in the Army from August 1954 – July 1956.  On April 9, 1957, he married Harriet Moss and they made their home near Hull until heading to Ames to attend veterinary school.

After graduating from Iowa State, in May of 1963, he returned to his hometown to practice there.  In the summer of 1972, the family moved to Sioux Center to work with the veterinarians at the Sioux Center Vet Clinic and later the Northwest Veterinary Associates.  Upon semi-retirement he worked in association with Mix-Rite and later established Agri-Edge.  He assisted at the sale barn until age 80.

He served on the Hull Public school board while living in Hull and served on the Northwestern Board of Trustees for a number of years and remained an avid supporter of that institution.

His church membership began at Hull First Reformed and later to Sioux Center First Reformed.  His love of music was shown in singing in men’s quartets in high school, college and with his brothers.  He also was active in the numerous choirs of both churches.

Much of his retirement years were spent happily creating woodworking projects as gifts for others.
