Egbert Van Beek

     Egbert Van Beek age 84, of Sioux Center, Iowa died Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

     Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center with Reverend John Witvoet, officiating.  A private family burial will follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery at Sioux Center.

     Visitation will be Monday, November 25^th, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

     In lieu of flowers or gift items the family prefers memorials be directed to the Netherlands Reformed Christian School in Rock Valley.

     Egbert Van Beek was born on April 13, 1935 in Sioux Center, Iowa to Maas and Hermina (Zomermaand) Van Beek. He was raised and received his education in Sioux Center. Egbert served in the US Army from 1957-1959. On April 11, 1962, he was united in marriage to Ella JoAnn Van Middendorp. To this union, four children were born: Roger, Rodney, Wanda, and Lynn. Egbert made his living working as a mechanic. Over the years, he worked at Vos Motor Sales, Van’s Poultry and Bomgaars. He enjoyed fishing, tinkering in his workshop and reading. He and JoAnn attended the Netherlands Reformed Church in Rock Valley.

     He is survived by his wife of 57 years, JoAnn Van Beek; three sons: Roger (Lori) Van Beek and their children, Callie and Zachary; Rodney (Kathy) Van Beek and their children Tyler, and Ryan (Kendra) and their daughter, Nora; Lynn (Mindy) Van Beek and their children Payton, Daniel, and Cael all of Sioux Center, IA; daughter, Wanda Jansma of Hull, IA and her son, Bo; brother-in-law, Dick Burgers of Rock Valley, IA; and other extended family members.

   Egbert was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Gertrude Burgers; sister and brother-in-law, Nellie and Bill Middendorp; and brother, Albert Van Beek.
